Hola! Bienvenido al Our Cancun Vacation Web Site Vacations

Fall of 2002

We saw and did so many new adventures.

Where do I begin?
We met Dave's brother and his wife from Mississippi in Georgia, then flew to Cancun together. Our youngest son accompanied us. His girlfriend had to back out at the last minute so he became our chaperone!!

We stayed at the Aventura Spa Palace in a Presidential Suite. It was perfectly located between the Aventura and Spa sides. What a great set up, plenty of room and privacy for all.

We enjoyed meals at all of the restaurants, on the Aventura side and the Spa side. We spent time in the gym, had great massages at the Spa facilities, enjoyed both pool areas depending on what our mood was for the day and did some snorkeling in the lagoons. Discovered that the Miami Vise and Banana Monkey were our favorite new drinks. Caught a few of the nightly shows on the Aventura side, with Karaoke being the most fun. Dustin befriended a tiny gray kitten who was an offspring of those CATS that you read about in some the trip advisor reports. As if they could be a bother to anyone ?

Away from the resort, we enjoyed the Light and Sound tour to Chichen Itza. Dave and I have been there before and were determined for the others to experience it. This time we actually climbed the pyramid. What an incredible feeling, let alone the view. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all, along with the great lunch and little lady making the homemade tortilla's over an open fire. This is a MUST DO ! The night show was very realistic. It made you feel as though you were right there thousands of years ago.

We also spent an afternoon at Puerto Aventuras, where Dustin and I swam with the dolphins. How spectacular! The only thing I regret is not buying the video that was done of us while interacting with those amazing creatures.

As usual, a week goes by so fast. It was time for them to catch their planes and return home.
We were on our way to the Sun Palace where our Governor's Suite was awaiting for a few days of heaven, then on to the Moon Palace for the remainder of the 2nd week. After a beautiful walk down the beach to Punta Nizuc, we enjoyed snorkeling at our favorite spot. Each time seeing different fish and coral, it always a unique experience. We spent some time shopping along the strip and took an adventurous bus ride to market 28. Another MUST DO! Even though items are repetitious, the prices are much more reasonable. We decided to be brave and walk for a while to catch the correct bus back to the hotel zone. Not really having a notion as to where we were, we happened upon a restaurant called Perico's. I sat on one of the saddles (barstools) and chatted with the bartender while Dave and his camera took a tour of the place with a friendly waiter. We decided that this would have to be a dinner MUST DO on another visit. We stopped at the Beach Palace for pictures and enjoyed a great lunch at the Cancun Palace before heading back to the Sun. We enjoyed our meals and short time at the Sun Palace, although it was a bit hectic as there was a large convention going on.

Three more days gone by and time to move to the Moon Palace. We chose to stay on the Moon Palace Nizuc side, although the balconies are smaller, the rooms include a couch and coffee table. This side also tends not to be quite so crowed and more on the quiet side.

We signed up for the Friday Kitchen Tour, which turned out to be quite the learning experience. It is amazing how much food is actually prepared in the main kitchens of the resort by so few people. All the main products are delivered to and prepped in these kitchens for the service of the Beach Palace, Cancun Palace, Sun Palace and Moon Palace. Nothing stays in one of their huge walk-ins for more than 3 days. All the preparing of different products have their own self contained room and coolers. There is no possibility of cross contamination!

Pasta is all made from scratch by only 2 women! The ice cream and popsicle room was amazing. The carvings of fruits, vegetables, candy and butter and etc. are incredible. These are talented people with a love of what they do. All that attended the tour are invited to a six course dinner held that evening. We, of course had to attend. Held in one of the upstairs ballrooms, it was a pleasure! Enjoying dinner with new people was fun and the food was divine, along with the beautiful presentation.

We also discovered the Baby Pig at the Los Caporales Restaurant is sooo! delicious. The meat is so juicy, it just melts in your mouth. Along with seafood appetizer, and excellent service, it was a spectacular evening.
