Sun Palace more from Nancy and Dave
In April of 2001 we spent a week at the Sun Palace, which is the smallest of the resorts and more intimate. We did more investigating of the hotel strip and town of Cancun. Our favorite thing to do at the Sun Palace was the snorkeling that we did on our own. In my searches of the Internet, I had learned about the reef off the point near Club Med. It was within walking distance, about a mile down the beach. We saw many more species of fish than on any tour, snorkeled for as long as, or as little as we wished, all for free! It was incredible. This time we made a point to spend more time relaxing at the pool while enjoying the sounds & beauty of the Caribbean waters.
Moon Palace Golf Resort
Moon Sunrise and Nizuc, more from Nancy and Dave
In late October of 2001, we took our four sons and daughter in law to the Moon Palace Sunrise. Their ages range from 17 to 31, so this huge resort was the answer. We have a Presidential suite reserved for the next two weeks one week on the Moon Palace Sunrise side and the next week on the Moon Palace Nizuc side. The pool is immense, you actually can get lost in it! Even though this was the first time we had experienced rain, there was always something for everyone to do.
The Moon Palace is actually two resorts in one. The Nizuc right next door was built first. You can catch the trolley that runs continually from lobby to lobby or take a leisurely walk along the ocean, while stopping you enjoy a game of miniature golf on the way. Again, the week was too short and it was soon time for the family to go home. Dave and I sent them off to the airport where our company for the 2nd week would soon be landing.
We had arranged for five of our Pippin's employees to join us for the next week. They to, were flabbergasted at
the size and beauty of this marble wonder. A couple more days of rain
kind of hindered the sunbathing, but it sure helped the shopping. Although
scheduled transportation is always available at all the Palaces, the girls
learned very quickly to grab a cab and in 15 minutes you are in downtown
Cancun! We all discovered Market 28 together. Hundreds of little Mexican
shops with just about anything you could want. Much cheaper than on the
hotel strip and shop owners not nearly as pressuring. Some very exquisite
shopping also, such as Mall Americana.
